Guide to the Companion Resources

Dear Teachers and Homeschool Parents,

Welcome! These lesson plans are designed for use with Spelling, Writing and Reading for 7th and 8th Grade: Language Arts Curriculum. Rather than following every individual lesson, they are organized around the main sections of the book. They provide a practical guide for teaching while leaving plenty of flexibility to adapt activities, add your own ideas, and meet the needs of your students.

The lesson plans are organized around the eight main parts of the textbook. Each plan covers a group of related lessons that work together to develop spelling, writing, and reading skills.

Within each plan, you’ll find an overview of the main concepts, vocabulary, and skills introduced in that section, along with suggested activities and teaching ideas.

Teaching takes time, preparation, and careful planning. To help simplify that process, this guide includes classroom presentations covering the main sections of the textbook, along with a complete set of flashcards for the lessons.

The lesson plans contain links to a single file with all the presentations and another file with all the flashcards. Both can be downloaded and used alongside the textbook to support classroom instruction, small-group teaching, or independent review.

Homeschool parents can use these lesson plans just as flexibly. You may choose to spend more time on particular sections, adjust the pace to suit your child, or combine the activities with your own teaching ideas and everyday learning opportunities.
