This complete resource pack provides everything you need to teach the vocabulary lessons with minimal preparation. Students encounter each word several times through presentations, class discussions, and five varied activities per lesson. This repeated application helps them move beyond simply learning definitions and develop a clearer understanding of each word’s meaning, connotations, synonyms, and use in context.
The resources can be used for whole-class instruction, small-group work, independent practice, or digital learning.

How the Lessons Work
Each lesson introduces six academic words and includes five activities that give students repeated opportunities to explore and apply them. Lessons 2 and 4 also include a consolidation activity reviewing the words taught across the previous two lessons.
The presentations guide you through each stage of the lesson:
- Introduce or review connotation.
- Discuss the vocabulary definitions and model sentences.
- Guide students through an activity.
- Review the answers as a class.
- Introduce and complete the next activity.
Each complete lesson takes approximately 45–55 minutes. You can also assign one 15–20-minute activity per day and spread each lesson across five days.
The order and pace can be adjusted to suit your teaching style and your students’ needs. Slides may be added to the presentations, but the existing slides may not be altered.
At the end of every lesson, students complete a record sheet to identify the words and synonyms they have learned and those they need to review further.
